SC Issues Notices to Central and AP Govt's on Telangana's Krishna River Projects Petition

Telangana files writ petition over Krishna river projects

Supreme Court directs Center and AP to file a counter within two weeks

Rejoinder to be submitted within a week after counters

The Supreme Court today heard the writ petition filed by the Telangana government regarding Krishna river projects. A bench comprising Justices Abhay Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan issued notices to the Central government and the Andhra Pradesh government, directing them to submit their counters within two weeks. The court also instructed that a rejoinder be filed within a week after the counters are submitted.

The dispute revolves around the Central government's notification to hand over the Krishna river projects to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB), a move that Telangana has challenged in the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government has also approached the Supreme Court, alleging that Telangana is illegally generating electricity and using Krishna river water. The Supreme Court is now hearing both the petitions filed by Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on this matter.
