Andhra Pradesh Tourism and Culture and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh hoisted the prestigious Blue Flag at Rushikonda Beach, marking its reinstatement after a brief suspension by the Danish certifying authority. The certification was revoked earlier due to certain environmental concerns, but with significant improvements, Rushikonda has once again met the global eco-tourism standards.
Two days ago, representatives from the Danish organization officially handed over the Blue Flag certificate to the district collector. In this context, Minister Durgesh led the flag-hoisting ceremony, celebrating the achievement.
Speaking at the event, the minister emphasized that the Blue Flag certification would enhance the beach’s reputation and attract more international tourists. He urged visitors to contribute to maintaining cleanliness and preserving the environment. He also highlighted the state government's commitment to developing beach tourism in Andhra Pradesh and fulfilling its promise of restoring the Blue Flag status to Rushikonda.
Additionally, the minister revealed that proposals have been submitted for Blue Flag recognition at several other beaches in the state, further strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s position on the global tourism map.
