Two Women Spent Four Days with Mother’s Body in Secunderabad

Hyderabad, Jan 31:
In a shocking and tragic incident, two young women spent four days with the decomposed body of their mother at their residence in Warasiguda, Secunderabad.

The incident came to light on Friday after neighbors complained of a foul smell, prompting the police to intervene.

According to officials, the two women, identified as Ravalika (25) and Ashwitha (22), appeared to be mentally disturbed. Upon entering the house, police discovered the body of their 45-year-old mother, Sri Latha, in one room while the two daughters were found in another. Both women had reportedly attempted self-harm by cutting their wrists.

Possible Cause of Death and Investigation

Police suspect that Sri Latha passed away four days ago, possibly due to cardiac arrest, leaving her daughters in a state of shock. It is believed that they chose not to inform anyone and remained inside the house with the corpse.

Authorities have shifted Sri Latha’s body to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination, and an investigation into the cause of death is underway. A case of suspicious death has been registered.

Neighbors' Claims and House Owner’s Statement

Neighbors speculated that the women lacked the financial means to conduct their mother’s funeral. However, police stated that the exact reason for keeping the body at home would only be known after recording their statements.

The house owner mentioned that the family had rented the house just two months ago and had also kept two dogs chained inside. She had reportedly asked them to vacate the premises earlier.

On the direction of Secunderabad MLA T. Padmarao Goud, the two sisters were taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation. It remains unclear how long it will take for the police to record their statements and determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
