Trump noted that discussions between the two nations are progressing well and are expected to yield positive results. However, he described India as one of the countries imposing the highest tariffs, calling the situation "cruel and very cruel."
He emphasized his rapport with Modi, stating that they communicate effectively whenever they meet. According to Trump, this relationship has played a role in enhancing the ongoing trade negotiations.
In related developments, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landa on Friday. The talks, held as US Trade Representative Brendan Lynch visits India, covered trade, defense, technology, and migration, with hopes of finalizing a mutually beneficial agreement.
