Warns of strict action against content that misrepresents women
The Telangana State Women's Commission has raised serious concerns over the increasing use of obscene words and objectionable dance moves in recent Telugu movie songs. Commission Chairperson Nerella Sharada particularly criticized the song ‘Dabidi Dibidi’ from the upcoming film ‘Dhaaku Maharaju’, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and Urvashi Rautela.
Sharada stated that there have been multiple complaints regarding songs and dance sequences that are derogatory to women in Telugu cinema. She warned that the commission will take strict action against filmmakers promoting such content, as it may mislead the youth and reinforce negative stereotypes about women.
The commission also expressed discontent over the trend of portraying women in an overly glamorous manner in mainstream Telugu films. It emphasized the need for responsible filmmaking that upholds the dignity of women.
Meanwhile, similar criticisms have surfaced against songs from ‘Pushpa 2’, ‘Mr. Bachchan’, and ‘Robin Hood’, starring actor Nithiin.
