Telangana to Unveil New Tourism Policy Next Month
Hyderabad, Jan 29: The Telangana government is set to finalize and unveil its new tourism policy by February 10, as announced by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during a high-level review meeting on tourism development in the state.
The policy aims to boost domestic and international tourism, focusing on eco-tourism, temple tourism, and a Hyderabad tourism circuit.
Key Focus Areas of the New Tourism Policy
During the meeting, CM Revanth Reddy emphasized several strategic initiatives:
- Eco-tourism & Temple Tourism: The government plans to develop eco-tourism zones in Adilabad, Warangal, and Nagarjuna Sagar by studying Singapore-style tourism models to enhance infrastructure and visitor experience.
- Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara: A joint action plan between the Revenue, Forest, and Tourism departments will be implemented to attract more devotees and tourists to the prestigious tribal festival.
- Tourism Circuit Development: Special tourism circuits will be designed to connect key temples and tourist attractions during major religious events like the Godavari and Krishna Pushkarams.
- Hyderabad Tourism Expansion: The government is considering linking Sanjeevaiah Park, NTR Park, and Indira Park to create a dedicated tourism circuit around Hussain Sagar Lake to enhance city tourism.
- Infrastructure & Revenue Generation: The Chief Minister stressed that the new tourism policy should not only bring recognition to Telangana but also generate significant revenue through tourism-based development.
Next Steps
CM Revanth Reddy has directed officials to study tourism policies from other states and countries before finalizing the Telangana tourism policy by February 10.
The meeting was attended by Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari, and senior tourism officials.
The new policy is expected to position Telangana as a leading tourism destination, boosting the economy and creating new employment opportunities in the sector.
