Telangana Govt to Replace Shorts with Pants for Boys in Classes 6 and 7

Pants to replace shorts for boys in Classes 6 and 7 from next academic year.

Decision taken after repeated requests from students and educators.

Approximately 2 lakh students across the state to benefit.

401869-tgThe Telangana government has announced its decision to provide pants instead of shorts to boys studying in Classes 6 and 7 in government schools across the state, starting from the next academic year.

Traditionally, boys up to Class 7 were given shorts, while those in Classes 8 to 10 received pants. However, many students in Classes 6 and 7 expressed dissatisfaction with this arrangement, prompting educators and teachers’ associations to advocate for change.

Responding to these appeals, the education department has decided to replace the two pairs of shorts with two pairs of pants for boys. This move is expected to benefit approximately 2 lakh students in institutions including government schools, model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), general residential gurukul schools, aided schools, and tribal primary schools.

The decision reflects the government's commitment to addressing the needs and preferences of young learners across Telangana.
