Operation Kagar: Maoists on the Run in Karreguttas

Police surround Karreguttas, deploy helicopters for Maoist search operations

Solid intel suggests presence of top Maoist leaders in the region

Combing operation enters third day; leaders believed to have fled to safe zones

A massive anti-Maoist operation codenamed Operation Kagar is underway in the Karregutta hill ranges of Mulugu district, sending tremors through Maoist ranks. Acting on credible intelligence that a large group of Maoists, including key leaders, were camped on the hills, security forces launched an intense combing mission that has now entered its third day.

Helicopters have been deployed to assist ground troops in scouring the densely forested terrain. Police sources indicate that forces have effectively surrounded the region, tightening their grip around the suspected hideouts. Special teams are combing through the thick vegetation and caves of the Karreguttas with the aim of flushing out any armed cadres.

Though initial reports suggested the presence of senior Maoist leadership in the area, updated intelligence indicates they may have escaped to safer locations just ahead of the crackdown. Nevertheless, security forces remain vigilant, continuing their search to ensure that no cadre slips through the net.

Officials are maintaining strict operational secrecy, but sources say additional reinforcements have been sent from neighboring districts to strengthen the ongoing operation. Authorities are also monitoring tribal hamlets in the vicinity, ensuring no support or supplies reach the extremists.

The intensified search comes at a time when Maoist activities have shown signs of resurgence in parts of Telangana and Chhattisgarh. With Operation Kagar, the police are determined to dismantle any revival attempts by intercepting leadership and disrupting logistical routes.

The operation continues to unfold, with helicopters frequently seen hovering over the Karregutta hills, signaling that the hunt is far from over.
