Another Shock for Vijayasai Reddy in Liquor Scam Probe
SIT issues notices to Vijayasai Reddy in connection with liquor scam
Directed to appear for questioning on April 18
Investigation to take place at Vijayawada Commissioner’s Office
In a fresh blow to Former Senior YSRCP leader and MP V. Vijayasai Reddy, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the multi-crore liquor scam has issued formal notices summoning him for questioning. He has been directed to appear before investigators on the 18th of this month at the Vijayawada Police Commissioner’s office.
The SIT, which has been tightening its grip on those allegedly involved in irregularities related to liquor policy decisions and business contracts during the previous government’s tenure, has intensified its investigation. Sources indicate that Vijayasai Reddy’s name surfaced in connection with certain key decisions that allegedly favored select liquor contractors and companies.
Officials stated that the summons were issued under relevant legal provisions and that Reddy’s cooperation in the probe is being sought to clarify specific financial and administrative transactions. The SIT is reportedly examining links between political influence and liquor trade kickbacks during the YSRCP regime.
This development comes at a politically sensitive time, just as the enforcement agencies ramp up scrutiny against several former ruling party leaders. Political circles are abuzz with speculation over whether more high-profile names will be summoned as the investigation unfolds.
As of now, there has been no official response from Vijayasai Reddy regarding the notices. However, party sources have hinted at a legal review before taking a public stand. The SIT is expected to release further details post the questioning session on April 18.
