BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has been on a busy visit to Delhi, where he met with Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Dharmendra Pradhan to discuss key issues concerning Telangana. Speaking to the media after the meetings, KTR emphasized that the legal battle regarding the defection of BRS MLAs to the Congress party would continue. He confirmed that a group of party leaders would meet with lawyers to expedite the process of expelling the defectors.

KTR also met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, where he presented a memorandum regarding the issue of medical college seats in Telangana. The BRS leader raised concerns that the new UGC regulations would be unfair to Telangana’s medical students and urged the Union Minister to amend the regulations to ensure justice for the state.

KTR expressed his belief that India’s universities are key to the country’s success on the global stage, citing the significant role of central and state governments, as well as private educational institutions like IITs, in shaping the future of the nation's students.

While KTR’s meetings in Delhi focused on these critical issues, many are criticizing the new UGC regulations, particularly the shift in power to appoint Vice-Chancellors from state governments to the central government. The response of the Union Education Minister to KTR’s request is awaited.
