Former MLA’s Son Arrested for Chain Snatching to Fulfill Girlfriend’s Wishes

Ahmedabad, Feb 1: In a shocking incident, Pradyuman Singh, the 25-year-old son of former Madhya Pradesh MLA Vijendra Singh Chandrawat, has been arrested for snatching a gold chain from an elderly woman in Ahmedabad.

The incident occurred on January 25, when Vasantiben (65) was walking on a street in the city. Pradyuman Singh suddenly grabbed her gold chain, valued at ₹1.25 lakh, before fleeing the scene.

Tracked Down Using CCTV Footage

Upon receiving Vasantiben’s complaint, Ahmedabad police reviewed CCTV footage from 250 cameras, eventually tracking the suspect to Malhera village in Neemuch district, Madhya Pradesh. Authorities were shocked to discover that the chain snatcher was the son of a former legislator.

Crime Motivated by Financial Pressure

Investigations revealed that Pradyuman had no prior criminal record. He was working in Ahmedabad, earning a monthly salary of ₹15,000. However, he found his income insufficient to cover his expenses and his girlfriend’s financial demands. Seeking quick money, he resorted to chain snatching.

Police Recover Stolen Gold Chain

Authorities stated that this was his first offense, and the stolen gold chain has been recovered. Police have booked Pradyuman under robbery and theft charges, and further legal proceedings are underway.
