Farm Loan Waiver Implemented to Support Farmers

Hyderabad, Jan 30 – Telangana Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao reaffirmed the Congress government’s commitment to farmers by implementing the farm loan waiver within a year of assuming office. He emphasized that the initiative aimed to relieve the financial burden on farmers, which had accumulated over the ten-year rule of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Speaking at a public event, Tummala Nageswara Rao criticized the previous BRS government, stating that despite announcing a ₹1 lakh loan waiver, it was never executed in one go, resulting in ₹11,145 crore in unresolved farm debt. He further alleged that even the Rythu Bandhu scheme was not disbursed on time during critical crop seasons. In contrast, he asserted that the Congress government believes that the nation’s prosperity is directly linked to farmers’ well-being.

The minister highlighted that the Congress-led administration has allocated 35% of the state budget to agriculture and allied sectors. He also stated that the government has fulfilled its promise by providing a bonus for paddy crops and has introduced new farmer-centric schemes such as Rythu Bharosa and Indiramma Athmiya Bharosa to ensure long-term security for farmers.

Tummala Nageswara Rao criticized the opposition, claiming that they are unable to accept the success of Congress' farmer welfare programs and are resorting to spreading false allegations. He reiterated that the current government remains dedicated to empowering farmers and bringing stability to the agriculture sector, which, he claimed, was left in disarray by the previous administration.
