Two Days Holiday Announced

Hyderabad/Vijayawada, February 7, 2025: Students in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have a reason to rejoice as they are likely to get two consecutive holidays this month.

While February 26 is already a public holiday due to Maha Shivaratri, there is a possibility that February 27 will also be declared a holiday in some districts due to the upcoming MLC elections.

Why February 27 Could Be a Holiday?

The Election Commission has issued a notification for the MLC elections for graduate and teacher constituencies in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. As per the schedule, polling will be conducted on February 27 for:

  • Telangana: One graduate MLC seat and two teacher MLC seats.
  • Andhra Pradesh: Two graduate MLC seats and one teacher MLC seat.

Since polling stations will be set up in many educational institutions, the state governments are expected to announce a holiday in districts where voting will take place.

Counting & Results

The votes will be counted on March 3, 2025, and the winners will be declared on the same day.

Students in the affected districts can expect an extended break, while the official confirmation from the education departments of both states is awaited.
