The British left only English and took everything: Chandrababu at IIT Madras

The whole world is looking at India, says Chandrababu

Entry of private companies in the communication sector termed a game changer

India is on the path to becoming the number one position if everyone works together

GnIE9pLbgAIJYbicm-chandrababu-2AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu addressed the 'All India Research Scholars Summit 2025' at IIT Madras as the chief guest, highlighting India's rapid economic growth and the potential to become the world's leading economy. He stated that India, which ranked as the tenth largest economy in 2014, has now reached the fifth position, capturing the world’s attention.

Chandrababu praised IIT Madras for being at the forefront in many academic fields and noted that around 80 percent of its startups are successful, including the notable success of Agnikul. He also mentioned that 35 to 40 percent of Telugu students in IIT Madras are from Andhra Pradesh, reflecting the region's academic strength.

Reflecting on India's economic journey, Chandrababu credited the reforms initiated in 1991 for propelling the nation’s progress, similar to China's economic transformation. He recalled his experience meeting Microsoft founder Bill Gates, emphasizing how he convinced Gates to set up a Microsoft office in Hyderabad, now headed by CEO Satya Nadella, a Telugu-origin individual.

Chandrababu remarked that the British left behind only the English language while taking away many resources from India. He said that before the 1990s, the communication sector was limited to BSNL and VSNL, but the entry of private companies following economic reforms marked a game-changing shift.

Highlighting India's demographic advantage, he said the country would not face population decline for another 40 years, unlike many other nations. He concluded by emphasizing that collective efforts would lead India to the number one position globally.
