Support for Ediga Community Workers: A Request to Ensure Authenticity in Caste Certificates

Kuppam, Jan 25: The Ediga Caste Association President Sudhakar submitted a petition to the Mandal Tahsildar Chitti Babu, urging the administration to extend support to Ediga community workers and ensure transparency in the issuance of caste certificates.

During the meeting, Sudhakar praised the Andhra Pradesh Government for recognizing the Ediga community, particularly the toddy tappers, by allocating exclusive liquor shop licenses. He emphasized the importance of including a valid caste verification certificate when applying for these licenses, stating it as a mandatory requirement.

Sudhakar raised concerns about some individuals falsely claiming to belong to the Ediga community and obtaining fraudulent caste certificates in the past. To address this issue, he requested that the government accept applications only from those who provide newly verified caste certificates, ensuring fairness in the allocation process.

The petition was submitted in the presence of community leaders, including Narayanamurthy, Thyagaraju, Nagendra Prasad, Harinath, Shivashankar, Murali, Lokanatham, and others. The leaders expressed their commitment to safeguarding the interests of the community and ensuring the rightful beneficiaries receive the intended support.
