The remand of former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who has been named as Accused No. 71 (A71) in the attack on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office, has been extended till May 7. The decision was made by the local court following a hearing on Wednesday.
Vamsi, who was arrested in connection with the violent incident that occurred during a politically charged confrontation at the TDP headquarters, continues to remain in judicial custody. The extension came after the police filed a petition seeking more time for investigation and interrogation.
The attack on the TDP office had created a major uproar across the state, drawing sharp criticism from opposition leaders and civil society groups. Vamsi, who was earlier elected as an MLA from the Gannavaram constituency, has been facing multiple allegations related to the incident, including conspiracy, incitement of violence, and criminal intimidation.
The case has garnered widespread media attention as political tensions continue to escalate ahead of the elections. Meanwhile, TDP leaders have demanded a fast-track probe into the incident, alleging political vendetta and misuse of power.
Vamsi's legal counsel has indicated that a bail petition may be moved in the coming days.
