Vizianagaram, Jan 30: In a major crackdown on illegal animal fights, Parvathipuram Manyam district police raided an illegal goat fight (Pottellu Pandelu) in Dalipeta village, Komarada Mandal, and arrested 11 people in the early hours of Thursday.
The Special Branch Police received intelligence about illegal gambling and goat fights taking place in the region. Acting on the orders of SP S.V. Madhav Reddy, IPS, Komarada SI Neelakantham and his team conducted a surprise raid at the location.
During the raid, police apprehended 11 individuals involved in organizing and betting on the fight. One goat (Gorre Pothu) and ₹7,760 in cash were seized from the accused.
A case has been registered against the arrested individuals, and police are further investigating to curb such illegal activities in the district. Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against those involved in organizing animal fights and illegal betting.
