Lakshmi Parvathi Faces Setback in Telangana HC Over ‘Basavatarakam Trust’ Case

High Court quashes City Civil Court’s orders

Witness admission process deemed invalid

Petition to appoint Lakshmi Parvathi as managing trustee rejected

YCP leader Lakshmi Parvathi faced a setback in the Telangana High Court, which quashed the City Civil Court’s orders supporting her claim to be appointed as the managing trustee of the ‘Basavatarakam Trust’.

The High Court ruled that the City Civil Court did not adhere to the proper legal procedure in validating the supplementary will allegedly executed by NTR on November 18, 1995. The lower court’s decision to admit JV Prasada Rao, son of J. Venkatasubbayya, as a witness was declared invalid. The High Court noted that admitting heirs of Venkatasubbayya and Y. Tirupati Rao as witnesses without proof of their death violated legal standards.

Lakshmi Parvathi had filed a petition in 2009 seeking to be appointed as the managing trustee of the Basavatarakam Trust based on the alleged 1995 will. She argued that JV Prasada Rao should be admitted as a witness since his father, Venkatasubbayya, had reportedly passed away. However, the High Court clarified that accepting Rao’s testimony based solely on word-of-mouth evidence about his father’s death was improper.

The appeal against the lower court’s orders was filed by the Basavatarakam Trust, Nandamuri Balakrishna, and Harikrishna. The High Court's verdict sets aside the previous orders, delivering a blow to Lakshmi Parvathi’s claim.
