AP Govt to Sanction New Pensions for Widows from May
93,000 widows to receive pensions starting May
5 lakh eligible beneficiaries awaiting approval
Minister Kondapalli Srinivas assures swift implementation
The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a major relief for widows awaiting pensions. Minister for SERP, Kondapalli Srinivas, revealed that 93,000 widows in the state will start receiving pensions from May.
Since the formation of the coalition government under Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, social security pensions have been increased, but thousands of eligible beneficiaries are still awaiting approval. Despite public demand, new pensions have not been sanctioned over the past nine months, with the government focusing on identifying and removing ineligible beneficiaries first.
Speaking in Gantiada village, Vizianagaram district, Minister Srinivas assured that the sanction process is progressing. He further stated that around five lakh new applicants are eligible for pensions, and efforts are being made to approve them soon.
This announcement has provided hope to thousands waiting for financial assistance under the government’s social security schemes.
