Former MP Nandigam Suresh Released from Jail After 145 Days
Guntur, Jan 29: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former MP Nandigam Suresh has been released from jail after spending 145 days behind bars. His release came after a Guntur court granted him bail in connection with the Velagapudi murder case, in which he was accused of involvement in the death of a woman named Mariyamma.
Although the court approved bail yesterday, delays in submitting sureties led to a postponement of his release. However, after completing all legal formalities, jail authorities formally released him this morning. The court had stipulated that Suresh furnish a surety bond of ₹10,000, which he duly submitted.
Reports indicate that Nandigam Suresh has been suffering from collarbone pain. His bail petition cited medical reasons, which the court took into consideration while granting his release. The police had arrested him on October 7, 2023, making his incarceration one of the longest for a political leader in recent times.
