Andhra Pradesh to Launch WhatsApp Governance Services from Tomorrow
Amaravati, Jan 29 – In a significant move towards digital governance, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the final preparations for the launch of WhatsApp-based governance services, set to commence from January 30.
During a review meeting at the Secretariat, Information Technology and Education Minister Nara Lokesh was briefed on the first phase of the initiative. Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand and other senior officials participated in the session, outlining the scope and impact of the new services.
161 Government Services in First Phase
In the initial rollout, 161 types of services will be made available via WhatsApp, covering various government departments, including:

✅ Energy
✅ APSRTC
✅ Revenue
✅ Anna Canteens
✅ CM Relief Fund
✅ Municipal Administration
Eliminating the Need for Government Office Visits
Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that Andhra Pradesh is the first state in India to implement WhatsApp-based governance on such a large scale. He stated that this digital initiative aims to reduce bureaucratic hurdles, ensuring citizens no longer need to visit government offices for services and documents.
Cybersecurity and Data Protection
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of data security and directed officials to strengthen forensic and cybersecurity measures to protect citizen information. He assured that robust security protocols would be in place to prevent cyber threats.
Partnership with Meta
The Andhra Pradesh government signed an MoU with Meta (formerly Facebook) on October 22, 2023, to facilitate public service delivery through WhatsApp’s digital interface. Additional services will be introduced in a second phase, expanding access to a wider range of public welfare schemes.
This initiative is expected to revolutionize governance, ensuring efficient, transparent, and hassle-free access to government services for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
