Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed party leaders and workers to prepare for the upcoming local body elections and aim for a better performance than in the 2024 Assembly polls.
Naidu held a meeting with ministers and zonal observers to discuss the party’s election strategy. He stressed the importance of coordination and unity among the TDP and its NDA alliance partners, noting that this would be the first local body election faced by the party as part of the alliance.
The Chief Minister asked party workers to take the government’s development and welfare programmes directly to the people through door-to-door campaigns. He said there was positive public sentiment towards the alliance government’s performance and urged the cadre to build on it.
Naidu also called for a combination of senior leaders’ experience and the energy of younger members. He said youth and women would be given priority during candidate selection, along with public opinion and performance.
Reiterating his commitment to Backward Classes, Naidu said the government would provide 34 per cent reservation in local body elections and would not reduce it. Election dates are yet to be announced.
