An interesting political development has emerged in Andhra Pradesh amid the ongoing local body elections, with events in Vizianagaram district drawing attention in political circles.
Jana Sena candidate Kotla Revathi has raised objections to the nomination filed by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) candidate Botsa Chaitanya for the ZPTC seat in Pusapatirega mandal. Revathi submitted a written complaint to election officials, arguing that Chaitanya’s nomination was invalid.
In her complaint, Revathi alleged that Chaitanya does not have voting rights in Pusapatirega mandal. She claimed that his name appears on the voter list for Ward 41 of the Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation, citing voter ID number UJK1667229.
Revathi questioned how a person registered as a voter within a municipal corporation could file a nomination to contest a ZPTC seat in the rural Pusapatirega mandal, alleging that this could violate election rules.
Jana Sena has urged election officials to investigate the matter promptly and cancel Chaitanya’s nomination if any violation of the rules is established.
The complaint is currently under consideration by election officials. The decision on Chaitanya’s nomination is now being closely watched in local political circles.
