Senior IPS Sajjanar Warns Against Betting Trap, Calls for Vigilance

Senior IPS officer V.C. Sajjanar has raised serious concerns over the increasing influence of betting apps on youth, warning that the pursuit of easy money is ruining lives. He directed police chiefs to take action against YouTubers and influencers who promote these apps, misleading the public for monetary gain.

Sajjanar pointed out that despite repeated warnings, some influencers continue to endorse betting apps, leading to legal action and arrests. "No one is above the law. If you promote illegal activities like betting, criminal cases are inevitable. You will lose your following and end up in legal trouble," he cautioned.

Highlighting the tragic consequences of betting-related suicides, he urged the youth to stay away from betting apps and not fall for social media promotions. He also called on the central government to enforce a nationwide ban on online betting, as current state bans in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are proving ineffective due to digital platforms.

Sajjanar warned the public to be cautious of various cyber frauds, including OTP scams, investment frauds, and chain marketing schemes. He also called for a boycott of influencers who promote betting apps, expressing satisfaction that the "Say No to Betting Apps" movement has gained public support.

Finally, he advised parents to monitor their children's behavior, especially any signs of borrowing money or using loan apps. He announced that in the coming days, awareness programs on cyber crimes will be organized in collaboration with the Cyber Security Bureau to educate people on these dangers.
