Supreme Court Denies Bail to Former MP Nandigama Suresh in Murder Case

In a setback to former YSR Congress MP Nandigama Suresh, the Supreme Court of India has rejected his bail petition in a murder case. Suresh was previously denied bail by the Andhra Pradesh High Court in connection with the murder of a woman. He challenged the High Court's ruling by approaching the Supreme Court, but his plea was dismissed once again.

On Tuesday, after hearing the bail petition, the Supreme Court observed that since a charge sheet had already been filed in the case, Suresh should approach the trial court for bail instead of seeking relief from the apex court.

The case dates back to 2020, when the incident occurred during the tenure of the YSRCP government. The victim, Mariyamma, an SC woman from Velagapudi village in Tulluru Mandal, had reportedly criticized then-Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for stopping her pension and failing to provide her with a promised house. In retaliation, Suresh's followers allegedly attacked Mariyamma's home, leading to her brutal murder. After the change in government, an investigation was ordered into the case.
