Minister Seethakka Announces ₹2,600 Crore for Rural Roads Development

Minister Seethakka emphasized that the lack of proper road infrastructure has been a major reason for the backwardness of villages. Following instructions from the Chief Minister, she shared that roads are being constructed from every residence to the village panchayat, from there to the mandal and district headquarters. A total of ₹2,600 crore is being allocated for the construction of rural roads, with ₹1,600 crore earmarked specifically for road improvements. The aim is to enhance the roads’ capacity to accommodate vehicles weighing up to 30 metric tons.

Seethakka instructed rural engineers to ensure precise road construction estimates and avoid altering them arbitrarily. She noted that structures built during the Kakatiya and Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya eras have withstood time, and similarly, rural engineers must ensure that the roads they construct last for generations. Contractors failing to perform will be blacklisted, and action will be taken against officials approving substandard work. The Minister concluded by stressing that rural roads should shine as brightly as those in urban areas, with the Rural Engineering Department responsible for this task.
