The annual Sri Bhashyakarla festival, commemorating Sri Ramanujacharya, began with spiritual fervor at the historic Sri Govindarajaswamy temple in Tirupati on Wednesday. The temple premises were filled with devotional chants and grandeur as devotees participated in the traditional celebrations marking the start of the ten-day-long festival that will continue till May 2.

As part of the festivities, the golden Tiruchi Utsavam is being held daily from 7:30 am to 8:30 am along the Chinnamada Veedhi, followed by Thirumanjanam, Sattumora, and Asthanam rituals within the temple premises. In the evening, the Peddamada Veedhi Utsavam takes place from 6:30 pm to 8 pm, drawing enthusiastic participation from devotees and pilgrims.

Tirumala Sri Sri Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamy and Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy graced the event, leading the religious proceedings. Temple Deputy Executive Officer Smt. Shanthi, Assistant Executive Officer Sri Munikrishna Reddy, Temple Inspector Sri Dhananjaya, and the temple priests also took part in the day’s ceremonies.

The Sri Bhashyakarla festival holds special significance for Vaishnavite devotees, as it honors the teachings and contributions of Sri Ramanujacharya, one of the most revered acharyas in the Sri Vaishnava tradition. The temple authorities have made elaborate arrangements to accommodate the influx of devotees and ensure the smooth conduct of rituals throughout the festival period.

With the majestic processions and sacred rituals unfolding daily, the festival is drawing large crowds and elevating the spiritual atmosphere in the temple town of Tirupati.
