Increased Financial Support for Farmers under Rythu Bharosa from January 26: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar
Hyderabad, January 5 — Amidst criticism from opposition parties regarding the alleged halt of the Rythu Bharosa scheme, Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has announced significant updates to the initiative. Speaking at a press conference, the Minister reassured farmers that the distribution of financial support under the Rythu Bharosa scheme would recommence on January 26, 2025.
In a major development, Prabhakar revealed that the government has decided to increase the financial assistance provided to farmers under the scheme, raising the amount from ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 per acre. Despite the financial challenges faced by the state, the government has opted to enhance the support to farmers, aiming to provide them with much-needed relief.
"Despite the fiscal difficulties, we have decided to increase the financial aid under Rythu Bharosa. The support to farmers will now be ₹12,000 per acre, starting from January 26," Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said, addressing concerns about the scheme's continuity.
Prabhakar also addressed the opposition’s claims that the government had discontinued the scheme, emphasizing that the administration remains committed to the welfare of farmers and the agricultural sector.
In addition to the increased financial support for farmers, the Minister highlighted the government's efforts to address long-standing issues related to ration cards and housing. He noted that new ration cards had not been issued in the state for the past ten years, but assured that from January 26, new ration cards would be distributed to eligible families.
Speaking about housing, Prabhakar mentioned the ongoing transparent survey for the Indiramma housing scheme. Under this initiative, each constituency will be allocated 3,500 houses, ensuring that families in need of shelter are provided with adequate housing.
These announcements come at a time when the state government is under pressure to fulfill its promises and deliver on key welfare initiatives. With the opposition parties accusing the government of failing to implement its schemes effectively, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar's statements aim to quell concerns and demonstrate the government's commitment to the welfare of the people.
