Former Sarpanches Demand Immediate Payment of Pending Bills
TPN , Telangana : In a recent protest, former Sarpanches across Telangana submitted petitions to the Mahatma Gandhi statues, urging the government to immediately settle pending bills for development work carried out in their respective villages. The protest took place near the Bapu Ghat in Langer House, where the Telangana Sarpanches’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) president, Survi Yadaya Goud, and other Sarpanches presented their appeal.
Speaking to the media, Survi Yadaya Goud emphasized that Sarpanches, who have worked diligently for village development in line with Mahatma Gandhi's vision of Gram Swaraj, have been facing undue hardships due to the non-payment of bills for years. He pointed out that many Sarpanches have committed suicide, and some families have been torn apart due to the financial strain. Additionally, many Sarpanches are being harassed by creditors, unable to pay back loans or interest due to pending payments from the government.
The protesting Sarpanches have demanded that the government release the pending funds for completed works without further delay. They also urged the government to focus on the development of villages and fulfill their financial obligations, which have been pending for a long time.
Key Demands:
1. Immediate payment for completed works that have been recorded in the M.B. (Measurement Book).
2. Release of collected tax funds from village panchayats and the removal of any pending freezing orders.
3. Payment for SD (Sarpanch Development Fund) checks that have been approved.
4. Release of SF (State Fund) funds that have been pending for a year.
5. Payment for funds under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) due from the Central Government.
The Sarpanches have urged the government to settle these bills and provide them with justice.
