Education Minister Nara Lokesh has taken another major step toward transforming the education system in Andhra Pradesh. He announced that, starting from the next academic year, every Saturday will be observed as 'No Bag Day' in all government schools. This reform, previously limited to the third Saturday of the month, is now being expanded to ensure holistic development for students.
Lokesh made this announcement on the social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter), stating that Saturdays will be dedicated to extracurricular activities such as quizzes, debates on contemporary issues, seminars, sports, and various competitions. His post included a video showcasing students actively participating in school sports and other activities, along with testimonials from teachers.
Teachers highlighted that 'No Bag Day' has significantly boosted student enthusiasm and attendance rates. The move has received widespread appreciation from students, parents, and educators. Lokesh’s tweet quickly went viral, garnering over one lakh likes within hours, with many praising the initiative as a progressive step in education reform.
