The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission has reportedly taken a key decision regarding election symbols ahead of municipal polls. Reports state that the bucket and pen stand symbols have been temporarily excluded from allocation to independent candidates because they may resemble the Jana Sena Party’s glass tumbler symbol and cause confusion among voters.
Jana Sena representatives are reported to have raised concerns that similar-looking symbols could lead to confusion during voting. According to media reports, the SEC considered the request and decided to restrict the allocation of the two symbols to help voters identify candidates more clearly.
However, the official SEC notification should be checked to confirm the exact scope and duration of the restriction. During the 2024 general elections, the Election Commission of India issued separate directions concerning the glass tumbler symbol in constituencies where Jana Sena fielded candidates. The current reported restriction concerns the bucket and pen stand symbols, but the areas covered and the period of implementation require official confirmation.
