Big Blow to YSRCP in Vizag: Ex-Minister Avanti Srinivas' Daughter Resigns Ahead of No-Confidence Motion
6th Ward Corporator Muthamsetty Lakshmi Priyanka, daughter of Avanti Srinivas, quits YSRCP
Resignation comes as no-confidence motion against GVMC Mayor gains momentum
YSRCP shifts corporators to camps amid defections and growing political tension
In a major setback to the YSRCP ahead of the crucial no-confidence motion against the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Mayor, 6th ward corporator Muthamsetty Lakshmi Priyanka, daughter of former minister Avanti Srinivas, has resigned from the party. Her decision has sent shockwaves through YSRCP ranks, especially in the backdrop of increasing political pressure in the region.
Lakshmi Priyanka formally submitted her resignation letter to party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, citing personal reasons. In her letter, she expressed gratitude for the opportunities given to her within the party and acknowledged the support she received during her tenure.
This dramatic development comes at a time when the YSRCP is trying hard to retain control over GVMC, even as the alliance pushes for the mayor’s ouster. With the no-confidence motion gaining traction, the party had moved its corporators to a secluded camp outside Vizag to prevent any crossovers. However, upon their return to the city, Lakshmi Priyanka’s resignation has sparked fresh concern about possible defections.
There is rising tension within the party as leaders fear more corporators may shift allegiance to the TDP-led alliance. The YSRCP, which has already suffered losses in several municipalities and corporations, is under pressure to hold on to the GVMC mayor’s post.
Uttarandhra YSRCP leader Botsa Satyanarayana lashed out at the TDP, accusing it of political conspiracies despite lacking majority support in the corporation. He vowed to thwart the no-confidence move and protect the party’s hold over the city administration.
