Hyderabad: The Congress high command has reportedly asked Telangana Endowments Minister Konda Surekha to resign from the state Cabinet following recommendations for disciplinary action against her. The development comes after the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) disciplinary committee examined allegations related to remarks described as anti-Chief Minister and anti-Congress.
According to reports, the disciplinary committee recommended stringent action against Surekha and suggested her removal from the Cabinet. The controversy reportedly arose following remarks made by her daughter, which were considered damaging to the party and its leadership.
The committee, headed by Mallu Ravi, submitted its report to TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday. Based on the recommendations, the Congress leadership has taken the matter seriously and initiated steps against the minister.
Sources indicated that the party leadership has asked Surekha to step down from her ministerial position. If she fails to resign, the Congress may reportedly consider further action, including her dismissal from the Cabinet.
