Tamil actor Dhanush has addressed speculation about his possible entry into politics, putting an end to rumours linking him with a national political party. Reports gained attention after his fan clubs were reportedly converted into welfare associations, membership drives were conducted on a large scale and some gifts distributed to women allegedly featured a lotus symbol.
These developments fuelled claims that a national party was backing the actor.Speaking at the audio launch of his upcoming film ‘Om’ in Chennai, Dhanush dismissed the speculation. He clarified that no political party or influential person was guiding him. He said that God was his guide, his fans stood by him and the people’s support was his strength.
He maintained that there were no other forces behind him.The film features Malayalam superstar Mammootty, Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela in key roles and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 20.
The audio launch also witnessed crowd-management problems as thousands of fans gathered at the venue. Several people who had valid passes reportedly could not enter the event. Dhanush later took responsibility for the inconvenience and issued a public apology to his fans through social media.
