Congress promises funds and appointments in proportion to population
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized the need for a population census to implement reservations effectively in local bodies and legislative assemblies. Speaking at a protest organized by BC groups at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, he asserted that the program aimed to amplify the voices of the BC community.
Revanth Reddy highlighted that the courts have clarified reservations cannot be granted without accurate population data. He stated that the Congress party is committed to conducting a caste census alongside the population census as part of its policy to ensure proportional allocation of funds and appointments.
Criticizing the BJP-led central government, Revanth Reddy accused it of neglecting the empowerment of BCs. He reiterated that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been advocating for a caste census to be conducted across the country to ensure social justice and equitable distribution of resources.
