Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Nadendla Manohar has reminded beneficiaries that the deadline to avail the first free gas cylinder under the Deepam-2 scheme is March 31. Those who have not yet booked their first cylinder are urged to do so immediately. So far, 98 lakh people have benefited from the initiative.
Launched by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on November 1, 2024, the Deepam-2 scheme fulfills the coalition government’s “Super Six” promise by providing three free gas cylinders per year to eligible poor households. The government has allocated ₹2,684 crore for its implementation, aiming to improve living conditions for families.
To avail the benefit, beneficiaries must pay for the cylinder upfront, with the full amount credited back to their accounts within 48 hours of delivery. In urban areas, delivery occurs within 24 hours, while rural areas receive their cylinders within 48 hours.
Gas cylinders can be booked once every four months:

Must have an LPG connection
Possess a Rice Card linked with Aadhaar
Aadhaar verification required
