Cyclone Arnab has raised concerns along Andhra Pradesh’s eastern coast. The weather department has warned that North Coastal Andhra may face severe impacts on Tuesday and Wednesday, including extremely heavy rainfall and strong winds of 115–150 kmph. Red alerts have been issued for several coastal districts, including Konaseema, East and West Godavari, Kakinada and Eluru.
The cyclone may cross the coast near Yanam. If its path changes, landfall could occur between Nellore and Machilipatnam. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said ₹27 crore had been released to collectors of 20 districts for relief and emergency measures. Holidays have been announced for schools and colleges in affected districts, and officials have been asked to ensure essential supplies are available at ration shops.
Due to the warning, South Coast Railway has cancelled around 53 trains operating to and from Visakhapatnam. Some services, including the Visakhapatnam–Kirandul Express, have been affected. Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors, follow official alerts and check train status before travelling.
