The results of the local body elections across Andhra Pradesh have showcased the strong performance of the ruling TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance. The alliance secured victories in a majority of municipal corporations and municipalities, from Visakhapatnam in the north to Tirupati in the south.

In Pulivendula Municipality in Kadapa district, the home constituency of YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the alliance registered a historic victory. TDP chairperson candidate Geetha Kumari won by a massive margin of 13,875 votes. Including the wards won unanimously, the alliance secured 34 of the total 37 wards, while the YSRCP was restricted to just three.

The Jana Sena Party also recorded a significant victory in Pithapuram, the constituency represented by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. Dhanam Lazar Babu won the municipal chairperson post with a margin of 8,944 votes. The party also secured the Gollaprolu Municipality in Kakinada district, where it demonstrated a clear lead. The YSRCP failed to win even a single ward in Gollaprolu.

In Tirupati Municipal Corporation, the alliance secured the mayor’s post by winning 38 seats for the TDP, 19 for Jana Sena and three for the BJP out of the total 66 seats.

The TDP also delivered a strong performance in Chittoor Municipal Corporation, winning 51 divisions. Katari Hemalatha emerged victorious in the mayoral contest.

In the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), the alliance candidate was also reported to be heading towards the mayor’s post with a lead of more than 1.19 lakh votes.

Despite the overall trend favouring the alliance across the state, the YSRCP managed to retain its stronghold in Nandikotkur Municipality in Nandyal district. The party won 23 of the 32 wards and secured the municipal chairperson’s post, providing a significant boost to its morale.

Meanwhile, a father-daughter duo from the YSRCP attracted attention in the GVMC elections. Both Potina Hanumantha Rao and his daughter Jahnavi won from their respective wards.

Another closely contested result came from Ward 1 of Dharmavaram Municipality, where YSRCP candidate Chelimi Ramakrishnamma defeated her rival by just one vote. The TDP requested a recount, but the result remained unchanged, confirming her victory.

These results featured several major victories, close contests and notable performances across Andhra Pradesh’s municipal and corporation elections.
