“Election Observer Conducts Inspection of Reception and Counting Centre in Khammam”

On Friday, Khammam Lok Sabha election general observer Dr. Sanjay G Kolte and police observer Charan Jeet Singh conducted an inspection of the reception and counting centre in Khammam. Accompanied by district Collector VP Gautham and Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt, they visited Sri Chaitanya Engineering College in Khammam Rural mandal, inspecting various blocks and rooms while emphasizing the need for tight security arrangements.

Following the inspection, Collector Gautham announced that the scrutiny of 72 nominations filed by 45 candidates for the Khammam Lok Sabha seat was completed, with the nominations of four candidates being rejected. Currently, 41 candidates remain in contention. The deadline for nominations withdrawal is Monday. Additionally, the distribution of voter slips has commenced, and the allotment of EVM machines has been finalized. Voting from home for elderly and PwD voters is scheduled from April 3 to April 8, with 2930 individuals applying for home voting.

Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt reported that the police have seized Rs.1 crore cash during inspections at check posts. Furthermore, liquor worth Rs.47.36 lakh and ganja worth Rs.11.47 lakh were confiscated during the operation.
