Unopposed victories are gaining momentum in Andhra Pradesh’s local body elections, particularly in Anantapur district. In the Guntakal constituency, ruling alliance candidates have reportedly secured all ZPTC and MPTC seats in Gooty, Guntakal and Pamidi mandals under the leadership of local MLA Gummanur Jayaram.
Earlier, the alliance reportedly won the Gooty municipal chairperson post and 27 ward seats unopposed. The same trend has now continued in the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) elections.
According to the report, Nallabothula Swathi was elected unopposed as the Gooty ZPTC member, D. Geetha as the Guntakal ZPTC member, and Palle Srinivasulu as the Pamidi ZPTC member.
Returning Officer and Zilla Parishad CEO Vijayalakshmi presented the election certificates to the successful candidates. Officials reportedly said that this was the first time since the division of the erstwhile united Anantapur district that three ZPTC seats were won unopposed simultaneously.
The results have reportedly boosted morale among alliance supporters. The outcome highlights the growing trend of unanimous victories in the district’s local body elections.
