Accused, an IT project manager, arrested in Pune
A shocking case has emerged in Bengaluru’s Hulimavu, where police discovered the body of a woman stuffed inside a suitcase in her residence. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Gauri Anil Sambekar, was allegedly murdered by her husband, Rakesh Sambekar.
The incident came to light after Rakesh reportedly called Gauri’s parents and informed them about the murder. Maharashtra Police, upon receiving the information, alerted their Bengaluru counterparts, who rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the house locked. Breaking in, they discovered a suitcase in the bathroom, which was later opened by forensic experts, revealing Gauri’s body. The exact cause of death is pending postmortem results.
Meanwhile, Pune police arrested Rakesh before Bengaluru police could locate him. Investigators revealed that the couple, originally from Maharashtra, moved to Bengaluru two years ago after their marriage. While Rakesh worked as a project manager in an IT firm, Gauri was actively seeking employment.
Following Rakesh’s arrest in Pune, a special team has been dispatched to bring him back to Bengaluru. Authorities have registered a murder case and are investigating the motive behind the crime.
