Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made a sensational announcement in the assembly regarding online betting apps and rummy games. He stated that the government has decided to take strict action against such platforms, which are allegedly leading to financial distress among youth.
"We will not tolerate online betting apps that exploit people. A special investigation team (SIT) will be set up to track and take action against those promoting these platforms," CM Revanth Reddy said.
He also revealed that amendments to existing laws would be introduced to impose severe punishments on those involved in running or promoting illegal betting apps. The police have already begun investigating the operators of these platforms, and further action is expected soon.
The Chief Minister emphasized that his government is committed to ensuring a safe digital environment and protecting people from financial fraud linked to online betting.
