The Revanth Reddy-led Telangana government has made a sensational decision to dismiss all retired employees continuing on contract mode across the state. A total of 6,729 contract employees, including senior officials and consultants, will be removed from service, with regular employees to be appointed in their place.
Chief Secretary Shanthikumari has issued orders to this effect, directing that all contract employees be removed from the rolls by the end of this month. The list includes prominent figures like Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy, Yadagirigutta Temple Vice Chairman G. Kishan Rao, Consultant Engineer BLN Reddy, and ten Transco and Genco directors.
According to the orders, if any of the dismissed employees are deemed essential, they may be reinstated. As part of the decision, Chief Secretary Dana Kishore issued dismissal orders on Thursday for 177 retired employees working on a contract basis in the Municipal Administration Department.
The departments affected include HMDA, GHMC, Hyderabad Waterworks, Metrorail, RERA, MEPMA, KUDA, YTDA, and various others. The state government has clarified that the removal process will be completed by the end of this month.
This bold move by the Revanth Reddy government is expected to pave the way for the recruitment of new employees and streamline the administration across Telangana.
