YSRCP candidates have secured victories in several wards of Nagari and Puttur municipalities in the municipal elections held in Andhra Pradesh’s erstwhile Chittoor district.
In Nagari Municipality, YSRCP candidates won Wards 3, 15, 18, 23, 26, 28 and 38. In Puttur Municipality, the party secured victories in Wards 4, 27, 29 and 36.
The winning councillor candidates from both municipalities met former minister and YSRCP in-charge for the Nagari constituency, Roja, at her residence. She congratulated the winners by presenting them with shawls and garlands.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Roja launched a sharp criticism of the coalition government. She alleged that coalition leaders had intimidated YSRCP candidates through what she described as rowdyism and hooliganism from the beginning of the nomination process.
Roja said she was pleased that YSRCP candidates had won with significant margins despite what she described as attempts by the three ruling alliance parties to undermine them. She attributed the victories to public support for the party.
Claiming that a “Red Book Constitution” was prevailing in Andhra Pradesh instead of democracy, Roja alleged that coalition leaders had used the police and government officials to secure electoral victories.
She further said the results demonstrated that YSRCP’s grassroots vote base remained intact despite the alleged obstacles and harassment faced by its candidates. Roja expressed confidence that voters would respond to what she called “rowdy politics” through their votes in the 2029 elections and teach the coalition government a lesson.
Her remarks came after YSRCP candidates secured wins in several wards across Nagari and Puttur municipalities.
