The Andhra Pradesh High Court dismissed petitions filed by YSRCP chairperson candidate Y.S. Pramila and MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy, seeking to stop vote counting and conduct repolling in all wards of Pulivendula Municipality. The ruling was delivered on November 3 by a bench headed by Justice M. Kiranmayi.
YSRCP representatives alleged that rigging and booth capturing had taken place during polling. They argued that fresh elections should be conducted in all wards before counting began. However, the High Court noted that the State Election Commission had already completed repolling in four wards where complaints were received.
The court ruled that there was no sufficient reason to cancel the polling process across the entire municipality. It also declined to order a halt to vote counting.
With the petitions dismissed, the counting process in Pulivendula can proceed along with other municipalities in Andhra Pradesh. The developments have attracted significant attention from political parties and supporters, as the final results are expected to reveal which party will control the municipality.
