Dharani Portal Controversy
Dharani Portal Data Breach Allegations Criminal History of Companies Linked to Dharani Illegal Land Transfers Uncovered Formula-E Scam: Misappropriation of Public Funds Government’s Assurance of Transparency and Reforms
TPN , Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy accused former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) of compromising sensitive land revenue records and personal data of citizens. Speaking in the Assembly during the fourth session, Revanth alleged that data related to 1.52 crore acres of land was handed to companies involved in financial crimes and operating from tax havens.
Revanth explained that the Dharani Portal, implemented in Telangana under KCR’s tenure, was awarded to entities like IL&FS, later rebranded as TerraCIS Technologies Ltd, despite their criminal history. He accused the previous government of ignoring due diligence and enabling companies like Falcon SG, based in the Philippines and connected to multiple tax havens, to access farmers’ land records.
“These entities refuse to transfer the data back to the state or National Informatics Centre (NIC),” he said, cautioning that the personal data of citizens, including Aadhaar and bank details, remains at risk.
Highlighting irregularities, Revanth alleged that the Dharani Portal violated laws safeguarding personal data. He pointed to cases like the illegal transfer of 100 acres of 'Bhu Daan' lands in Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy’s native village, claiming thousands of similar fraudulent transactions occurred under the previous government.
On the Formula-E scam, Revanth accused KTR of dubious agreements with a London-based agency, leading to an alleged misappropriation of funds. “Rs. 55 crore was already paid, and there were plans to swindle an additional Rs. 500 crore under the guise of the event,” he said, adding that he blocked further payments, saving public funds.
Revanth noted discrepancies, such as payments made during the election code of conduct and the shift from a tripartite to a bipartite agreement. He claimed that Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka’s order for a forensic audit into the allegations led to disruptions by BRS MLAs in the Assembly.
The Chief Minister asserted that these allegations reveal how trust was betrayed by handing over state data to foreign entities. He urged the Speaker to take appropriate action against the disruptions and assured that the government remains focused on transparency and reform through initiatives like the Telangana Record of Rights in Land (Amendment) Act.
