The ruling coalition in Andhra Pradesh has reportedly finalised its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming urban local body elections. After extensive discussions among senior leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the three parties have reached an understanding on the allocation of constituencies. The arrangement covers 123 urban local bodies across the state, including 17 municipal corporations and 106 municipalities and nagar panchayats.
The seat-sharing formula has reportedly been worked out after considering local political conditions, the strength of each party’s cadre and its presence in individual areas. Under the arrangement, TDP will contest the largest share, followed by Jana Sena and BJP.

Jana Sena will contest in 25 urban local bodies, representing 20.33%, while BJP will field candidates in nine, accounting for 7.32%.The allocation gives TDP the largest share of constituencies while also providing representation to its coalition partners. The arrangement is intended to help the parties coordinate their electoral efforts across the state.Seat Sharing in 17 Municipal Corporations The coalition has also finalised its allocation for the 17 municipal corporations in Andhra Pradesh. TDP will contest in 11 corporations, Jana Sena in four and BJP in two.
The four municipal corporations allocated to Jana Sena are Srikakulam, Kakinada, Eluru and Vijayawada. The allocation of Vijayawada, a politically significant urban centre, has attracted particular attention.

Coalition Partners Prepare for Election Campaigns With the seat-sharing arrangement reportedly finalised, the coalition partners are expected to concentrate on selecting candidates and organising their campaigns. Coordination among local leaders and party cadres will be important as preparations move forward.
The final outcome will depend on several factors, including candidate selection, local issues, voter preferences and campaign strategies. The seat-sharing agreement establishes the framework for the coalition partners to contest the urban local body elections.
The election schedule, nominations and other procedural details will be governed by official announcements from the relevant election authorities.
