SB 459 maize seeds offer the potential for better yields even under low rainfall conditions, said V. Ramana Reddy, Regional Branch Manager of LSR Seeds. A field demonstration of SB 459 maize was conducted in farmer Shankar’s field at Charlapally village in Jadcherla mandal.Speaking on the occasion, Ramana Reddy explained that the variety has a shorter crop duration and certain pest-tolerant characteristics. These features may help farmers reduce pesticide expenses. He also stated that the maize cobs are easier to peel, potentially lowering labour costs. As the crop matures early, farmers may also get an opportunity to cultivate their next crop sooner. He advised farmers to select seeds based on local soil conditions, climate and irrigation availability. V. Kumar Goud of Sri Manjunatha Traders, company Area Sales Manager Rajasekhar Goud and farmers from nearby villages attended the demonstration.
