TPN , Andhra Pradesh – Y.S. Sharmila Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Chief, has called for a thorough investigation into the alleged mining scams during the tenure of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YCP) government. Speaking at a press conference, she highlighted the need for accountability, stating that not only individuals like Venkat Reddy should be scrutinized but also larger entities involved in the scams.
Sharmila emphasized that a comprehensive inquiry should be conducted into the alleged misappropriation of ₹2,566 crores. “If Venkat Reddy is at the center of this fraud, the public knows that there are bigger players pulling the strings behind the scenes,” she asserted.
She accused the YCP government of rampant exploitation of natural resources over the past five years, alleging that mining contracts were awarded to certain companies without following due process, including disregarding tenders and regulations set by the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMMC). “They trampled over NGT regulations and siphoned off funds meant for the state treasury into their own pockets,” she claimed.
Sharmila called for the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to investigate past mining irregularities comprehensively. She stated, “We need to catch the big fish, not just focus on small fry,” urging the coalition government to request a CBI inquiry into the natural resource exploitation.
Her remarks underscore the growing calls for transparency and accountability within the state government, as allegations of corruption continue to surface in Andhra Pradesh’s mining sector.
