TPN, Telangana: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for failing to respond to his challenge to prove a 100 percent loan waiver in Konda Reddypalli, Revanth Reddy’s native village. KTR made these remarks while participating in a protest organized in Chevella, Rangareddy district, against the state government’s approach to the loan waiver scheme.
During his speech, KTR demanded that the loans of all farmers be waived without any restrictions. He pointed out that bankers had informed the Chief Minister that Rs. 49,000 crores were required to waive loans up to Rs. 2 lakhs, leading to a cabinet resolution of Rs. 31,000 crores. Furthermore, Rs. 26,000 crores were allocated in the assembly budget for the loan waiver.
KTR found it ironic that the Congress is now claiming to have waived 100 percent of loans, questioning their credibility on the matter. He criticized Congress leaders for being unable to speak convincingly on the six guarantees and other promises made to the people.
KTR also expressed anger over the treatment of Sabita Indra Reddy by congress leaders, a female leader, in the Legislative Assembly, accusing the Congress of showing disrespect. He challenged the Congress to explain why technical problems related to loan waivers, which did not arise during the BRS regime, are now being cited as obstacles. KTR expressed concern that the Congress government might fail in fulfilling its promises to farmers, just as it did with the loan waiver. He urged farmers to stand against any attempts to backtrack on the loan waiver and declared that their protest would continue until the Rs. 2 lakh loan waiver is implemented unconditionally.
